Sustainability & Social

Sustainability is the only path to a promising future for the fashion industry and the preservation of our planet.  Being a sustainable fashion brand goes beyond just being cool. It is a need of our time

Las Gringas is aware of that. We renew processes and are constantly looking for new solutions that generate the least environmental impact in our production chain.

We're proud to be eco-friendly. We're friends of nature. We focus on producing our clothes using 100% natural and biodegradable raw material. We use certified sustainable fabrics, leftovers from noble fabrics that would be thrown away, and we prioritize fibers from renewable sources, such as cotton and viscose.

Certifications

Amni Eco Soul - CO2 Control®

In our beachwear line, we use Amni Soul Eco®, the world's first biodegradable yarn, with decomposit time of up to 3 years, when discarded in landfills. They are free of toxins that harm human skin, help to regulate body temperature and to absorb sweat.

GOTS - CU1016503

GOTS is an internationally recognised standard that advocates the existence of an ecologically and socially aware textile production chain. In this way, the GOTS standard not only focuses its attention on sustainable production, but also establishes strict rules and guidelines for all companies along the value chain.

With the GOTS label, clients can be sure that the product was manufactured with social responsibility and environmental awareness.

In order to achieve this objective, the GOTS standard has defined all ecological and social criteria that must be met by companies.

The use of fibers from organic farming, the exclusion of toxic or environmentally harmful substances and the introduction of a minimum wage are just some examples of the mandatory criteria imposed by the GOTS.

Better Cotton Initiative (BCI)

The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a non-profit organisation, created in 2005, which works to improve world cotton production for those who produce it, for the environment where it is grown and for the future of the sector. It advocates the awareness and guidance of the agents of the cotton production chain for the importance of fair labour relations and social and environmental responsibility in the field. These actions are fundamental to respond to the growing demand, in the globalised market, for cotton produced according to correct sustainability criteria (market transparency and cotton traceability). Here in Brazil, BCI?s actions, being an international institution, are developed in partnership with ABRAPA (Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers). Currently all our cotton suppliers are BCI associates.

*BCIis not a certificate, but a guarantee of the traceability of the cotton.

EcoVero™

Lenzing™, the world's largest producer of viscose fibers, based in Austria, produces EcoVero™ fibers. They feature an identification technology, which makes the product more transparent with respect to raw material sourcing practices, informing that its fibres are extracted from wood from sustainable forest plantations, certified by independent textile industry associations. EcoVero™ fibres are manufactured through an environmentally friendly production process, with low emissions and environmental impacts, including rivers, far lower than the conventional viscose production system.

Tencel

Tencel is extracted from the cellulose of certified eucalyptus trees, which need little water for production. It was created and certified by Lenzing™. The production of this fibre is considered closed-loop, meaning everything is recycled and reused, avoiding waste. Tencel clothes have a different feel. When compared to cotton, it is possible to perceive that they are soft and smooth. The absorption capacity is also much higher, so the fabric is ideal for garments worn daily. The nanofibrilar structure is innovative, and with it, the feeling of humidity is avoided, helping to inhibit bacterial formation, that is, it has antibacterial properties. In addition to having a longer life span without losing quality.
